ENAiKOON and Toughshield to exhibit at Security & Policing event

This week is the Security & Policing tradeshow, UK’s only event for police, law enforcement, and security professionals. From March 11-13 2014, ENAiKOON will be exhibiting with Toughshield, a rugged mobile computing device provider. Together, we will be showcasing the benefits of telematics and NFC technology for police officers and security professionals. The combined solution using their robust mobile phones, our tracking devices, and our mobile apps will aid in improving mobile workforce management, operational efficiency, and employee security. Security guard with torch in warehouse The ENAiKOON NFC tracking solution for guard tour monitoring is a system that uses NFC tags, NFC-capable smartphones, and the inViu NFC-tracker app. A security guard going on patrol would use their smartphone to scan NFC tags mounted along their tour. The NFC tag data along with the user ID and scanned time gets transmitted to the inViu servers where management can remotely view the patrol details from any browser. Keeping an accurate audit trail is essential when it comes to building trust, not only within the organisation but with clients and other stakeholders, and this solution will allow security companies to maintain a good reputation while easily managing their guards.

As for police officers, we developed software that helps deploy police officers based on their GPS location. This technological enhancement allows them to efficiently manage their regional coverage, shorten their response times, and increase their safety. In order to better manage a police department, all the police officers need are GPS devices on their vehicles or, alternatively, smartphones with the inViu routes app. Another great use of NFC and mobile phones would be in the evidence room. ENAiKOON has a partnership with Security Bag, a patented NFC evidence bag. By identifying each piece of evidence with an NFC Security Bag, police officers are able to quickly scan the tags with their NFC-capable mobile phones to access tamper-proof data and track their chain of custody. Less time in the office means more time out on the streets! In addition, the use of smartphones is further benefited out in the field for taking pictures of witnesses, suspects, victims, and crime scenes with GPS coordinates and timestamps for easy management of evidence images.

For all solutions mentioned, using reliable mobile phones with the right features is extremely important as the stakes are high for these professions. Most modern smartphones have NFC capability, though this alone is not sufficient enough for those who work under harsh conditions. Security guards and police officers require durable devices that can withstand emergency situations, and Toughshield’s R500+ is the perfect device. Not only does it have an IP67 rating, but it resists water, dust, and other microparticles. Try dropping it 1.2 metres onto concrete – it won’t break the screen! If you’re attending the Security & Policing event in Farnborough, be sure to stop by ENAiKOON and Toughshield’s booth! We are always looking for reseller partners, so if you would like to set up a meeting with us in Farnborough, please do not hesitate to contact us. Leisure mode for mobile phones with the inViu routes GPS tracking app – great for switching between business and personal use

Leisure mode for mobile phones with the inViu routes GPS tracking app – great for switching between business and personal use We’re going to put the spotlight on one of inViu routes newest features, the leisure mode. Now with the ability to turn mobile phones into GPS tracking devices by installing the free app, it does not make sense to track the mobile phone’s movement 24 hours a day. Just how it sounds, the leisure mode allows users to use their work phone for personal use outside of working hours without being monitored. This feature creates a win-win situation for both the employer and employee as it increases efficiency in managing mobile workers and allows these workers to use one smartphone instead of carrying a separate phone for private use. inViu_routes_leisure_mode_EN Settings How it works is each mobile phone’s inViu routes settings would be configured to automatically track during the employee’s work hours. You can also import predefined leisure mode templates to save time during setup. Create several templates to easily switch between different shifts. After the desired template is selected, the employer would then lock the phone’s inViu routes settings with a security code. This way the employee cannot change the ‘auto start’ settings. Overtime A great feature of leisure mode is the extension verification message. The user can choose to extend tracking time when working overtime. This is important for companies that use the inViu timestamp as their employees’ work hours for payroll. The message appears at the end of every scheduled shift for the employee to confirm the worked hours or to extend them. Leisure mode is just one of the many updates made to inViu routes to turn it into a business-friendly tool for a cost-effective tracking system. Facility Management with NFC and Android Phones

Remember when security guards used to call for backup on handheld transceivers? An alarming number of security companies still use them for communication during guard patrols. Why use these ancient devices when we have NFC-enabled, multi-purpose, and affordable smartphones in the market? Conveniently, there are now telematics solutions specifically for managing mobile workers using these smartphones together with NFC – an ideal system for facility management and guard tours. NFC is something we have discussed previously as a technology that is being rapidly absorbed by the tech community. ENAiKOON_Guardtour So how is it used for guard patrols? It’s simple. Equip each guard with an NFC-capable smartphone, used to swipe NFC tags located at checkpoints, destinations, and rooms on patrol routes. When these tags are scanned using inViu NFC-tracker, the data from the tag, along with the GPS timestamp, is sent to our servers in real time. This data can be viewed and analysed via our telematics software, inViu pro, for effective monitoring. You can even turn these smartphones into GPS devices by installing the inViu routes app, making it easier to locate your guards in case of emergency. inViu NFC Tracker A mobile security services provider recently switched to the ENAiKOON guard tour monitoring system, dramatically changing the way they perform their patrols. Bergische Security from Solingen, Germany, used to use a system that required wands that read barcodes. The company faced many inconveniences with the old system, having to collect the wands after each shift to upload the data. It also failed to provide real-time locations of the guards and could not read the barcodes under poor weather conditions. When replacement parts were needed, they were expensive as the parts were only exclusively available from one supplier. These challenges made Bergische Security search for a new solution. Once ENAiKOON’s solution was implemented, the wands were replaced with NFC-capable smartphones, improving the communication between the dispatcher and guards. Guard-tour data is now transmitted in real time and viewed immediately by Bergische Security and their clients. The supplier-neutral replacement parts have helped the company find affordable replacements with ease. “The ENAiKOON system is more affordable compared to our previous system and other industry-specific solutions, for both the initial package and the running costs,” says Evelyn Neuhaus, the assistant managing director of Bergische Security. “Moreover, with the exception of the software, ENAiKOON’s system is supplier neutral, only requiring off-the-shelf, NFC-capable Android smartphones. The permanent data transmission and localisation of the devices are big advantages. If checkpoints are missed, we immediately receive an alert message. When security guards require assistance, we know their location instantly. When we have special requests, we can send the nearest security guard. Other big advantages are the ability to use a combination of different tools on one smartphone as well as the flexibility that we gain with the system.” Having an inexpensive yet effective and efficient guard tour system has optimised Bergische Security’s operations. With improved communication, guard performance, overall safety, and productivity, the company now experiences more transparent partnerships with their clients.
